The coffees come from the Coipa, a region renowned for being the home of the Marshell variety - the regressive variety of bourbon. The province of Utcubamba is one of the seven that make up the department of Amazonas in the northeastern part of Peru. This region is home to a very rich ecosystem, the "Yungas" jungles and a tropical rainforest that covers 70% of the territory that stretches from Ecuador to the summit of the Cordillera del Condor. The roads are winding and few in number, which adds a little spice to the transport of our beloved green coffees. The fauna and flora are rich: hummingbirds, pumas, opossums, armadillos, monkeys, catfish, .... Unfortunately, this part of the Amazon is threatened by deforestation. The existing tree species, such as mahogany and cedar, are highly sought after. Encouraging production in the shade and preserving the forest is a priority to protect this unique area.
